Orthodontic retainers, either fixed or removable, hold the teeth in their new places after you finish the active phase of your orthodontic treatment. Depending on the type of retainer, it is generally made of metal, metal and acrylic, or a thermoplastic material similar to Invisalign aligners.
Everyone’s schedule for wearing their retainer is different. Generally, after the first few months of full-time wear, most patients will move to wearing their retainers at night time only. At Cox Orthodontics, we offer many different retainer options and often adapt them to your individual needs.
